The best question I’ve ever received in my 31 years in the real estate business: “What does it take to be a successful agent?” 87% of agents fail in this business, so that’s an important question. Today I’m sharing the seven things a real estate agent needs to do to truly be successful in this business:

1. Have a strong value proposition. You have to have an excellent product before anything else and know how to communicate that to potential clients.

2. Create your goals. Know what you’re trying to accomplish, whether that means how much money or how many sales you want to make, etc.

3. Use your goals to create a business plan. Goals show what you want to accomplish, the business plan demonstrates how you’ll get it done.

4. Invest in your business. Many agents are afraid to invest, but you have to step out of your comfort zone. You may need to invest money and emotions.

5. Learn how to time block effectively. If you don’t make time in your calendar for the fundamental things, they won’t get done.

6. Protect your mindset. Optimize your emotions; every day can be a challenge.

7. Be disciplined. You have your plan and goals, now you just have to execute them.
